DTE Maharashtra Role

  • Directorate of Technical Education: regulates all professional colleges in Maharashtra
  • Conducts CAP (Centralised Admission Process) for engineering, pharmacy, MBA, MCA
  • All Government, aided and unaided private engineering colleges in Maharashtra under DTE

Eligibility for Engineering Admission

  • PCM in HSC with minimum 45% (40% for reserved categories)
  • Qualifying score in MHT-CET (state level) or JEE Main for All India Quota (15%) seats
  • JEE Main used only for NIT/IIIT/CFTIs under AIC (All India Counselling) for central institutes

CAP Round Process

  • Register on DTE CAP portal (https://fe2024.mahacet.org/); pay registration fee ₹500 (General), ₹300 (Reserved)
  • Document verification at Facilitation Centre (FC) before starting CAP round
  • Rounds I, II, III: fill college preference; allotment based on MHT-CET percentile + category

Important MHT-CET Percentile Benchmarks

  • 99+ percentile: IITs (not applicable via MHT-CET), COEP CSE, MIT Pune CSE
  • 95–99 percentile: most government engineering colleges; mechanical/civil/electrical at COEP
  • 80–95 percentile: aided private colleges; good branches at VIT, MIT, PICT
  • Below 80: unaided private colleges; institute-level admissions available

Document Checklist for CAP

  • HSC marksheet and passing certificate; SSC marksheet; MHT-CET hall ticket and result
  • Caste certificate and Caste Validity Certificate (CVC) for reserved category
  • Gap certificate (if applicable); Domicile certificate (Maharashtra); Income certificate for EBC/TFWS

Categories and Reservations

  • State Level: SC 13%, ST 7%, VJ/NT/OBC 19%, EWS 10%, General 51%
  • Institute Level (Management Quota): 20% seats at institute's discretion (not through CAP)
  • NRI and Foreign National quota: 15% at unaided private; admission through institute directly

Seat Acceptance and Joining

  • After each CAP round: accept seat by paying fees + reporting to college or upgrade in next round
  • Spot round: colleges with vacant seats after 3 CAP rounds; very low cutoffs
  • Refund policy: full refund if cancellation before cutoff date; partial refund after that
