Maharashtra SSC Board Overview

  • Class 10 board exam; conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE)
  • 9 divisional boards: Pune, Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur, Konkan
  • Total marks: 600 (6 subjects × 100 marks each); pass: 35% per subject and 35% overall

Subjects and Paper Pattern

  • English, Marathi/Hindi/Urdu, Mathematics, Science & Technology (2 papers), Social Science (2 papers)
  • Science: 80 marks written + 20 marks practical; Maths: 80 marks + 20 marks internal (optional subject)

  • Geometry: Circle theorems, Constructions, Co-ordinate geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration

Science and Technology

  • Science I (Chemistry + Physics): 80 marks; 5 chapters per subject as per reduced syllabus
  • Science II (Biology): 80 marks; Human body systems, Life processes, Heredity and Evolution
  • Diagrams carry significant marks; practice labelled diagrams for biology and physics

Social Science Strategy

  • History: timelines, events, causes and effects; not just dates
  • Geography: map-based questions carry 10 marks; label maps during practice
  • Political Science and Economics: conceptual; NCERT + State board textbook sufficient

Scoring Full Marks in English

  • Grammar section: 16 marks; exercises on transformation, direct-indirect, active-passive
  • Writing section: formal letters, informal letters, reports, notices: standard formats must be memorised
  • Reading comprehension: read carefully; answer in full sentences as instructed
