State the advantages of cultivation of pulses.

Answer

The advantages of cultivation of pulses are as follows:

  1. Pulses are a very important source of vegetable protein.
  2. Being leguminous crops, pulses fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil and increase the natural fertility of soil.
  3. Pulses are usually rotated with other crops to maintain or restore soil fertility.
  4. Pulses serve as an excellent forage and grain concentrates in the feed of cattle.
