Given,

Maximum current passing through the fuse (I_max) = 5 A

Input voltage of the geyser (v) = 220 V

Power rating of the geyser (P) = 1540 W

Let, current passing through geyser be I.

Then,

$\text P = \text {IV} \\[1em] \text I = \dfrac{\text P}{\text V}=\dfrac{1540}{220}=7\ \text A$

As,

I_max = 5 A < I = 7 A

So if the fuse is used with the geyser then it will draw more current greater than the maximum current and in turn fuse will melt.
