Explain the following terms:

Answer

  1. The ray of light that strikes the surface is called the incident ray.

  2. The ray of light which is returned back into the same medium after striking the reflecting surface is called the reflected ray.

  3. The angle between the incident ray and the normal is called the angle of incidence. It is represented by the letter i.

  4. The angle between the reflected ray and the normal is called the angle of reflection. It is represented by the letter r.

  5. The perpendicular drawn on the surface at the point of incidence is called the normal.
