Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of the image of an object placed on the principal axis of a convex mirror. State the position, size and nature of the image. What happens to the image as the object is moved away from the mirror?

Answer

Nature — Image is virtual and erect.

Position — The image is formed behind the mirror between focus and pole of the convex mirror.

Size — Image is diminished in size.

As the object is moved away from the mirror, the image moves towards the focus and the size decreases to a point.
