Explain why chlorine turns moist starch iodide paper blue-black.

Answer

Chlorine reacts with potassium iodode to form iodine. This iodine reacts with starch to form blue black colour.

Cl2 + 2KI ⟶ 2KCl + I2

Starch + I2 ⟶ Blue black colour
