Question 2(ii)

Simplify the following expression:

(3+3)(33)(3 + \sqrt{3}) (3 - \sqrt{3})

Answer

(3+3)(33)(3 + \sqrt{3}) (3 - \sqrt{3})

= (3)2 - (3\sqrt{3})2 [∵ (a + b)(a - b) = (a)2 - (b)2]

= 9 - 3

= 6

Hence, (3+3)(33)(3 + \sqrt{3}) (3 - \sqrt{3}) = 6
