Question 3

A lamp consumes 1000 J of electrical energy in 10 s. What is its power?

Answer

Given,

Time = 10 s

Work done = Energy consumed by the lamp = 1000 J

We know,

Power = Work doneTime\dfrac{\text{Work done}}{\text{Time}}

Substituting we get,

Power = 100010\dfrac{1000}{10} = 100 Js-1 or 100 W

Hence, the power of the lamp is 100 W
