Question 1

In transferring 1.5 C charge through a wire, 9 J of work is done. Find the potential difference across the wire.

Answer

Given,

charge (q) = 1.5 C

work = 9 J

potential difference across the wire

V=Wq\text V = \dfrac{\text W}{\text q}

Substituting the values in the formula, we get,

V=91.5V=6 V\text V = \dfrac{9}{1.5} \\[0.5em] \Rightarrow \text V = 6\ \text V

Hence, the potential difference across the wire = 6 V.
