CBSE Class 9 English Syllabus 2026-27 — Complete Guide

What's New in 2026-27?
- New textbook "Kaveri" replaces Beehive and Moments: The two-book system has been replaced with a single integrated textbook called "Kaveri" with 16 carefully curated texts.
- NCF-SE 2023 framework: The syllabus has been redesigned under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, aligned with NEP 2020.
- Integrated approach: Prose and poetry are now part of one cohesive textbook rather than separate volumes, enabling thematic connections between texts.

Preparation Tips
- Read Kaveri thoroughly: Since this is a brand-new textbook, there are no previous year questions to rely on. Read every chapter and poem carefully, understanding themes, characters, and literary devices.
- Build vocabulary from context: Each chapter introduces new vocabulary. Maintain a word bank with meanings, synonyms, and usage in sentences.
- Practice unseen passages daily: Reading comprehension carries 20 marks. Practice one discursive and one case-based passage every day to build speed and accuracy.
- Master letter and paragraph formats: Learn the correct format for formal letters, informal letters, and paragraph writing. Format errors cost marks.
- Study poetry with annotations: For each poem, note down the rhyme scheme, literary devices (metaphor, simile, alliteration, personification), and central message.
- Revise grammar systematically: Focus on tenses, modals, subject-verb agreement, reported speech, and determiners. Practice transformation exercises.
- Write practice answers under timed conditions: Simulate exam conditions — write answers within the suggested time for each section to build speed.
